In an effort to reduce the download time for the "livin' in Kentucky" page, I have removed all of the content that is more than a year old and put it here.

I had a stuffy head on the airplane the other day.  This is what my head felt like.  It was awful!

Fall has been beautiful.  Here are some of our backyard leaves.

Spring 2004

We lucked out by moving into a super kid friendly neighborhood!  There are 17 kids living within a couple house radius.  Sierra loves playing with her new friends, and Elaine and I appreciate being able to spend more quality time with Cooper now that Sierra is distracted.

We have started a list of projects to do on the house, but at this point we are in no hurry to tackle them.  It is nice to be able to relax and enjoy our living environment.

Thank you Howard, Carol, Maribeth, Margaret, Brian, Jeff and Mike for helping us move!  We couldn't have done it without you!

The house located in Northern Kentucky.  It is a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath ranch, with a 1 car garage, partially finished walkout basement, on a large lot (.9 acres), in need of updating.  It is about twice the size of our Vancouver house, which will be great for the room to grow into.  The house is about 10 minutes away from the airport for Elaine.

Fall 2003

Elaine and I have been looking for homes in Northern Kentucky and South Eastern Indiana.  It is a classic case of coming to terms with what we would like, versus what we can afford.  Beyond the price issue, we seem to be changing our criteria for judging different areas weekly, or every time we look at a house - whichever comes first (our poor real estate agent).  It will be nice to have the next few months to figure out exactly where we want to live, and not be rushed.

Summer/Fall 2003

Our plan is to rent an apartment until we learn the neighborhoods in the greater Cincinnati area and purchase a home.  We hope to make that happen by January 2004.

Below is a photo of our apartment.

Lightning strikes the Trellises!

August 10th, 2003

The Midwest thunderstorms are wild!  In the afternoons gigantic thunder clouds appear out of the sky and open up for about and hour.  Torrential rains with lightning striking all around every 15 seconds!  1 - 3 inches of rain falls in less than an hour, then the storm will drift off leaving calm and pleasant evenings.  Yesterday a bolt struck about 150 yards from us, igniting the "club house" in our complex!  The fire department came to extinguish the flames and we were without power for 3 hours.  Wacky wild stuff.
